Manufacturing Applications at Rain Engineering

Applications supporting manufacturing operations, production workflows, batch history, genealogy tracking, data entry, and plant-specific requirements.

Project context

At Rain Engineering, I have contributed to and led manufacturing applications supporting quality control, production visibility, ingredient traceability, batch genealogy, and daily plant activities. My responsibilities have ranged from working as one of three front-end developers on a large React application to serving as lead developer and sole developer on other systems. Across these projects, I have contributed substantially to UX/UI implementation, translated designs into working interfaces, and supported the different workflows of operators and supervisors on the plant floor.

The challenge

  • Supporting shared manufacturing workflows while accommodating different plant requirements.
  • Turning approved designs into production interfaces.

My contribution

  • Collaborated as one of three front-end React developers on a global Electronic Batch Record application used across multiple Sherwin-Williams manufacturing plants to support paint-production quality control, batch tracking, production visibility, and historical data review.
  • Served as lead developer on the Kellogg Mixing App, building workflows for ingredient quantities, source lots, production lines, and batch statuses.
  • Created the React-based Mixing Sheet partner application and contributed the supporting database logic for its batch-genealogy view.
  • Led and independently developed the Plant Activity Tracker, from its interface and activity workflows through its React and REST API integration.

Manufacturing project highlights

Sherwin-Williams Electronic Bench Record

A manufacturing application used by operators to enter paint quality-control data and review batch details. A dedicated batch view gives plant users access to batches at their location and the historical quality-control inputs recorded for those batches.

  • Distributed across multiple manufacturing plants.
  • Supports four languages.
  • Supports quality-control data entry, batch details, and historical batch data.
  • React
  • TanStack Query
  • REST APIs
  • GraphQL

Lead Developer

Kellogg Mixing App

An application supporting the Cheez-It and sandwich-cracker mixing process. Users can record ingredient quantities and source lots, then review batches by production line and generic states such as in progress, completed, on hold, or scrapped.

  • Led development of the mixing application.
  • Supported ingredient-quantity and source-lot entry.
  • Provided batch status visibility across production lines.
  • Angular
  • TypeScript
  • Node.js
  • Express.js
  • Sass

Lead Developer / Sole Developer

Plant Activity Tracker

A product developed as part of Rain Engineering's initiative to create its own applications for customers. It gives supervisors and operators quick insight into daily plant activities and lets users update activities and add comments as work is completed on the plant floor.

  • Led and independently developed the application.
  • Designed for quick activity-status visibility and plant-floor updates.
  • Supports completion updates and comments for daily activities.
  • React
  • REST APIs
